Summary
The US onAir Network will be working with volunteers from North Dakota universities, colleges, and nonprofit organizations to oversee the curation and moderation of posts, aircasts (online discussions), and in person events for the North Dakota onAir Hub … related to federal, state, and local elections and government.
Our first outreach will be to University of North Dakota partly because of its proximity to the state capital. We have identified many of Auburn’s civic engagement, academic, internship and research programs related to making democracy and civic responsibility a focus of higher learning on their campus … for students, faculty, staff, and local community. This post, over time, will have similar information on other collaborating organizations in the state.

About
The University of North Dakota’s onAir chapter will initially focus on training interested undergrad and graduate students on how to curate North Dakota onAir content especially submitting Top News articles, events, videos, and information and moderating forums in each post they curate.
Student curators will also work with state senate and house committee chairs to produce aircasts on issues being discussed and bills being proposed in their committees.
During election season, students with other other organizations like the League of Women Voters, will coordinate and produce aircasted debates with candidates.

As an Honors student, you’ll choose between two tracks:
- The Research Scholars track focuses on traditional liberal arts and encourages deep critical thinking about issues that interest you. This track is a good choice if you’re planning to apply to top medical, graduate or law schools.
- The Leaders in Action track emphasizes service learning, leadership development, experiential learning and civic engagement for students who are interested in politics, public service and entrepreneurship.
Whichever track you choose, you’ll study topics across the disciplines, conduct high-level research and graduate as an engaged citizen of the world

Internships

The PSPA Department proudly supports experiential learning for students.
Events, coursework, and a special endowment all contribute to the department’s dedication to hands-on learning.
Internships
PSPA students frequently complete internships. Students work for local governments and the federal government. Many student participate in political campaigns or work as congressional staffers. Lastly, student use internships to explore careers in law and non-profit management. Internships can be taken for credit during the Fall, Spring, or Summer terms.
Collaborating and Learning Globally
PSPA students participate in an annual discussion with students at the University of Manitoba as part of the J. W. Dafoe Political Studies Student Conference, hosted by University of Manitoba.
Study Abroad programs in dozens of countries in Europe, Asia, and Australia have been a critical part of a PSPA experience for many students. Students can select from programs where a group of students travel with a UND faculty member or where a student enrolls in an international university that partners with UND.

The Department of Political Science & Public Administration offers a dynamic curriculum to prepare students for graduate studies or careers in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors. Our department offers two undergraduate majors: Political Science and Public Administration, both through the Nistler College of Business & Public Administration.

Combined Bachelors and Masters Option
This Combined Bachelors/Masters program allows you to complete a Political Science B.A. or Public Administration B.S. along with a Masters of Public Administration (MPA). You are able to complete both degrees in 5 years rather than the typical 6 years needed to complete the two degrees separately.
Accelerated Bachelors to Law Degree (3+3) Option
This Accelerated Bachelors to Law Degree allows you to complete a Political Science B.A. while getting a jumpstart on law school. You complete both degrees in six years rather than seven — a big savings in time and money.

Internal Research Initiatives and Funding Opportunities
The College of Arts & Sciences is pleased to offer a number of significant, internal research funding opportunities for faculty to address the State of North Dakota’s critical needs, support creative activity and scholarship of faculty in the fine arts and humanities, and provide undergraduate students with research and creative experiences to enhance their learning.
We also offer awards to support external grant proposal development. In addition, donor funded endowments like the Joyce and Aqueil Ahmad Endowment for the Promotion of Peace and Nonviolence and the Itterman Professional Development Endowment provide funding to support faculty research and professional development across the College of Arts & Sciences.
For most of these awards, the application deadline is the middle of the fall semester and the grant period is the following academic or calendar year. Select the specific award(s) on the left for more information. All faculty are encouraged to apply.
